  • Saturday Punting

As there's no flat racing this afternoon I'm going to have a little punt on the national hunt cards at Newbury and Kempton.

The Package (15:10 Newb), Clova Island (16:20 Newb) and Missoula (14:20 Kem) all look to have been priced up on their potential rather than what they've achieved.

I'd rather back horses on known form and as a result I'll be taking on all three of these jollies.

    Cheers

  • Blue Square Arc

The Blue Square Arc is this weeks live greyhound offering on Sky Sports. The big race comes from Swindon with coverage starting at 19:30.

Due to time constraints I haven't been able to evaluate the big race so won't be posting a preview.

Johnny Moyles however shows a great deal more dedication to the blogging cause and you can read his thoughts here. You can also see the selections put up by myself and a couple of Johnny's other regulars by clicking on the 'comments' of his post.

Best of luck if you have a bet tonight.

    Cheers

  • Stan James Springbok

The Stan James Springbok is the centrepiece of Sky's live greyhound coverage this evening and Lorraine Sams' Nebuchadnezzar is odds on with the layers to land the spoils.

I've changed the format slightly this week in an attempt to make things easier for myself and both my readers -

T1 NEBUCHADNEZZAR Speed Fig 100 Odds 5/6 Skydogs Price 13/8

Quickest dog in the competition posting a 28.18 in the semi-finals. Will need his trapping boots on tonight as there plenty of pace outside him. The best price of 5/6 is short given that I think he'll have to come from behind.

T2 BOMBER BAILEY Speed Fig 77 Odds 7/1 Skydogs Price 8/1

Slightly disappointing in the semi's but his beating of Love Lynx in the second round would give Mark Wallis' representative a chance. Lively from the boxes but the 7/1 on offer looks about right.

T3 LOVE LYNX Speed Fig 95 Odds 11/2 Skydogs Price 5/2

Went within five spots of Nebuchandnezzar's time in the semi's and is probably quicker away from the boxes than the jolly. A real chance at a value price.

T4 KILGRANEY AGASSI Speed Fig 77 Odds 10/1 Skydogs Price 8/1

Not a great draw in trap four but could well make it to the first bend in front. If there's trouble in behind that 10/1 will look a big price.

T5 ROCKY ROCKET Speed Fig 69 Odds 12/1 Skydogs Price 16/1

A strong staying son of Droopys Scholes, likely to be out the back early and will need plenty of luck to be involved in the finish.

T6 DEANRIDGE CASPER Speed Fig 57 Odds 16/1 Skydogs Price 16/1

Outsider of the field and rightly so on what he's shown so far.

    SUMMARY -

Nebuchadnezzar has a decent draw and tops the speed figures but could just be done in the race to the first bend. Love Lynx isn't far behind on the numbers and looks the value of the race at 11/2.

On the specials Corals look to have price up the match bet between Love Lynx and Bomber Bailey incorrectly. They make the Maxine Locke's dog even money and he looks well worth backing to reverse their second round form.

Elsewhere on the card I like Eye Onthe Flame in the 19:40, 11/4 looks a fair price and in the 21:10 Hawks Dilemma looks overpriced at 9/4 (Bet365) to continue his good recent form.

Good luck if you have a bet.

  • Yesterday's Review

Amber Moon was the sell yesterday and she looked slightly less than enthusiastic to me in coming home third.

I have to admit to being a little worried at one point with the first three spread right across the track it was difficult to tell what was in the lead almost up to the line. Thankfully Muncaster Castle and Komreyev Star did the honourable thing and pushed Amber Moon back into third spot.

A 24 point profit on the sell takes the 1000 point starting bank up to 1320 points after 9 bets.

  • This Afternoon's Racing at Southwell

Limited racing with the cold snap, lets hope things fair up a little so the good weekend cards aren't lost.

This afternoon I'm hoping to warm up with a sell of Amber Moon in the 16:00 at Southwell. Jamie Osbourne's filly has a fair chance on her last outing but this is a competitve little heat and given the balance of her form I'm prepared to have a 3 point sell at 18.

  • Saturday's Review

Racing was wiped out today due to the weather but on Saturday Annabelle's Charm finished unplaced for a profit of 54 points on the spread sell.

She was a bit unlucky in running and wasn't too far behind the principles at the death. Jamie Spencer certainly wasn't hard on her and she looks capable of going close in a similar sort of race so I'd be wary of opposing her again if she's on the rader anytime soon.

Saturday's profit takes the 1000 point starting bank up to 1296 points after 8 bets.
