  • Sunday at Doncaster

The UK flat turf season kicked off yesterday with the Lincoln at Doncaster and I'm going to look to the Yorkshire venue this afternoon to provide some funds for the upcoming Grand National meeting.

Last Sovereign (15:05) looks a short price to me at 3/1. Upped in class in a 21 runner handicap I'd be prepared to lay Jamie Spencer's mount at that sort of price. A sell on the spreads at 18 also looks a viable proposition.
Res - 2nd - lay unmatched, spread 7 point loss

  • 18:50 at Wolverhampton

Just a quick post ... Noah Jameel has been well backed in the opener at Wolverhampton this evening and is trading at less than 2/1 on Betfair at the moment. That looks short enough to me on the balance of his form at I'm a layer at that sort of price.
    Res - lost

  • This Evening at Kempton Park

After two winners from three selections on the dogs last night I'm hoping to continue the good work at Kempton Park this evening.

Highly Regal (19:20) has been in great form since being fitted with blinkers and Bet365 offer 2/1 about him keeping his winning run going which seems a fair enough price.
    Res - 3rd

Sir Mark Prescott's Pheonix Flight (20:20) is also expected to go well dropping back in trip. Several firms go 7/4 which looks decent value given he's marginally shorter than that on Betfair at the moment.
    Res - 1st

I'll have one point to win on each and two points to place at 1.40 or higher on Betfair.

    Cheers

  • William Hill Pall Mall

The Pall Mall is live from Oxford on Sky Sports this evening. Its a tough looking card so I won't be getting too financially involved but I think the dogs below represent a touch of value -

    19:40 T1 Jacs Top Lass (3/1 Coral) Res - 1st
    20:50 T2 Plan (5/1 Blue Square) Res - 1st
21:45 T5 Brickfield Class (7/2 Stan James) Res - lost

Johnny Moyles also has a good preview up on his blog ... unfortunately we don't agree on any of our selections!

Good luck if you have a bet.

  • This Afternoon at Lingfield

Laurel Creek won at Wolverhampton last night and I'm hoping to follow up this afternoon with Reg Hollinshead's Distinctive Image in the 16:15 at Lingfield.

A winner at the same level last time out he is still open to improvement and looks worth a bet at the 9/4 put up by Sporting Bet and Stan James. I'll probably top up with a bet to place on Betfair at anything over 1.50 as well.
    Res - 2nd

    Cheers

  • This Evening at Wolverhampton

I've had a good week on the horses laying a couple of short priced favourites I didn't fancy but one I won't be opposing is Laurel Creek in the 19:50 at Wolverhampton tonight.

Michael Grassick's colt has gone up in the weights but should still be competitve at this level and he can add to his two wins and a second from three starts at Dunstall Park. Bet365's offer of 13/8 isn't going to make anyone rich but it looks fair enough to me. I'll probably also back him to place on Betfair where anything around 1.40 would be acceptable.
    Res - 1st

    Cheers

  • Betfair Trainers Championship

The Trainers Championship is live from Sheffield on Sky this evening and its a very good card.

I fancy Mark Wallis' Roswell Startrek to go well in the 20:15 at 6/4 with Totesport and VC Bet (Res - 1st) while Tyrur Rodge looks overpriced at 3/1 (Totesport / Bet365) in the 20:35 (Res - 1st).

The excellent Bantiss Greyhounds blog is always worth a read, Johnny Moyles has as usual put a thread up on the Sky races and there are plenty of tips to choose from there.

    Cheers

  • This Afternoon's Racing

Struggling at Cheltenham this week but I'm hoping a sell of Provost (17:35 Southwell) will get me back on track. Only an average chance on the figures I'm struggling to see why he's a 15/8 shot. I'll sell 4 points at 25 with Bet HiLo.
    Res - 1st

    Cheers

  • Sunday Racing

A good day yesterday with all three suggested lays beaten although Clova Island was rather unlucky falling at the last.

Back on the level today and I fancy Action Impact in the 16:50 at Lingfield. Gary Moore's gelding is down in grade afer a solid second over course and distance last time and should go well again today. I'll have a 5 point buy on the spreads at 21 with Bet HiLo.
